IMS 8th-Grade Chopped Challenge today! Basket ingredients: ground beef, rice, bell peppers, & cheese! Sgt. Haworth, SRO Keegan & two school staff were judges! The officers did their best Gordan Ramsey impressions as they got to sample several meals.
IMS is so grateful to Mrs. McClain and the impact she continues to have on the lives of our staff and students - we can't thank you enough for ALL that you do!!

This morning students were welcomed to the building by Mr. Vanek and our teachers with music and high-5s 🖐️ on their way to the auditorium, where we had our monthly I-Pride Assembly and honored various winter extracurricular groups for their achievements and upcoming adventures.

Today our 8th graders participated in the first of a four-part immersive career exploration experience with the Cleveland Clinic!
The Cleveland Clinic Center for Youth and College Education has been working with Amanda Jaronowski, Jamie Vanek & Ben Hegedish to design this multi-step partnership. The Clinic is sending experts from different fields to IMS over the course of several weeks to talk with our 8th graders, sharing the multitude of healthcare opportunities ranging from medical caregivers to engineers, art curators to A.I. specialists, and so much more!
At the end of this experience the Clinic will host the entire 8th grade at their main campus for a day, where they will visit the state of the art simulation center, take a behind the scenes tour of main campus, have lunch with employees, and immerse themselves in the Clinic culture for a day.
Our first All-Pro Parent Breakfast of 2024 is this Friday 1/26 at 7:15am for 5th Grade 💙💛 Hope to see you there!

With school closing and the weather warning remaining in effect, we are canceling today's ski club for IMS. We are looking to reschedule with Boston Mills and our transportation office. Once a date is finalized, Mrs. Frate will communicate accordingly. Stay warm, and hope you all enjoy the long weekend!
No school today - Friday, January 19. While forecasted accumulations of snow were known last night, the forecasts actually became more severe with more snow expected. Stay safe, have a great weekend, and go Blue Devils.
The district secured a grant to update security cameras across all buildings. After months of planning, the new safety-focused camera system is in use providing additional safety at all our locations. #DidYouKnowFridays
Stay warm and safe out there! 💙💛

Here we go Brownies, here we go!! 🤎🧡
Eighth-grade Spanish students in Mrs. Corrigan's class were able to incorporate History with Spanish! In honor of MLK Day on Monday, students were given a few different versions of famous MLK quotes to translate and analyze. After learning online the who, what, when, why of each quote's significance and recognizing vocabulary previously learned, students will apply how MLK's legacy can be applied to the world today. Can't wait to read their responses on how they can be difference makers in 2024! #IPride
Hope you're all having a great start to 2024! It's been wonderful having our students and staff back in the building after the winter break 💙💛
We'll be having a Browns spirit wear day tomorrow ahead of this weekend's wild card game, so wear your orange and brown to cheer them on! 🧡🤎
Happy New Year from Independence Local Schools!
