Today Mrs. Jaronowski spent time with our 6th grade social studies classes working on career development and financial literacy. Kids all took a career/interest survey and then onboarded a new EverFi class called FutureSmart with great financial lessons. She will be back in November to work on resume building!

Mr. Ambrose's Math 8 classes ventured out of the classroom today, learning in new ways and making math fun!

Hope you've had a great weekend! Here's a look at the week ahead from the IMS News Update: https://conta.cc/45Oi3Pm

• As always, please report absences, late arrivals, or early pick-ups to the office by text (484-255-8384), email (skennedy@independence.k12.oh.us), or phone call (216-642-5865).
• For ALL appointments, bring in a "School Excuse Note" from your provider to have the absence "Medically Excused."
• Last but not least, for upcoming non-medical absences of 2+ days or longer, please complete and return the "Planned Absence Form." This form gives the school advance notice of your absence and teachers an opportunity to collect make-up work for students, and can be found here on the ILS website: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/3126/IPS/2210883/8465e0c4-799b-4839-82f1-ee553d8eac31.pdf

Rainy day blues effectively chased away by indoor recess in the Blue Room ✅ Our crafters and gamers are ever grateful for the generosity of our IMS community and the donations that make this possible! 💙💛

🇺🇸 Remembering 9/11 🇺🇸
Today, we pause to honor the memory of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We will never forget the bravery of first responders, the resilience of survivors, and the strength of our nation. #NeverForget #September11

Huge thanks to the IMS PTO for sponsoring Kona Ice for the school today! Every student (and more than a few teachers 🤫) got a special personalized color-change cup to go along with their free Kona Ice 🍧 Our 7th graders in particular enjoyed cooling off after a morning of testing. Thanks to Kelley Deir and Cindy Fortesque for being here to facilitate this awesome start to the holiday weekend! 💙💛

IMS Room 505 Fun Friday is featuring Home Made Trail Mix to go with their News To You Article that they read this week, yummy! 😋

First full week of school is in the books ✅ Grateful to Rachel Pietrzak and her 8th grade WEB leaders for helping make the transition from IPS to IMS as seamless as possible for our new 5th graders 👏🏼 These students enjoyed lunch and recess together with their WEB leaders today - the smiles say it all! 💙💛

6th graders learned a new exciting way to change the world…. By playing a game! Free Rice is a trivia game that donates 10 grains for every correct answer to one of 40+ categories of questions. Students looked at countries around the world facing issues of poverty and how the UN World Food Program partners with Free Rice to help. Way to go 6th graders! 💙💛

Thank you to all the 6th grade students and families who joined us this afternoon for our Team Game Day! We had so much fun with all of you!
