Our 8th graders have been busy creating meaningful relationships with their younger peers in 5th grade. Today the 8th grade WEB Leaders had lunch with their 5th grade WEB groups. The WEB Leaders were excited to hear about their group's first few weeks of school. Students discussed their favorite teachers and subjects and talked about any clubs they have joined. They were all smiles! 😁
Through fun activities and mentoring, WEB Leaders are helping to guide and support the 5th graders as they transition into middle school. This bond is fostering teamwork, kindness, and a sense of community across grade levels, making our school an even better place for everyone! 💙💛

Dear Independence Primary and Middle School Families,
Due to forecasted extreme heat, the Primary and Middle Schools will be closed on Tuesday, August 27.
Tomorrow's weather forecast calls for temperatures exceeding 90+ degrees throughout the day, with a real feel of 100+ degrees in classrooms at the primary and middle school buildings. Due to the forecasted extreme heat expected throughout the day on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the Primary and Middle Schools will be CLOSED on Tuesday.
High School students are IN SESSION and expected to attend classes as normally scheduled for Tuesday.
A decision on any extracurricular activities and/or practices scheduled for tomorrow will be communicated by Mr. Brett Diehl, Athletic Director, by mid-morning on Tuesday.

Update: power has been restored to IMS
Update: tonight's 6pm athletic parent meeting will be held at the Civic Center
IMS is still without power from the storms last night, and will unfortunately be closed to parents/students until restored and reopened.
*Updated to add that IMS volleyball practice this morning will be canceled and/or rescheduled to this afternoon when power is restored - your coaches will keep you informed with a revised plan.
We'll post a status update on tonight's athletic parent meeting this afternoon if the power is restored (plan A is IMS at 6pm, plan B is Civic Center gym at 6pm).
