Choosing a curriculum to support teaching students how to read and write is challenging. Mr. Ebert and the Curriculum Committee at IPS is up for that challenge and visited Revere Schools to understand how one of those curriculum's has been implemented. Revere Schools adopted a new curriculum almost five years ago and graciously opened their doors to talk with our teachers.
After watching lesson implementation, our teachers sat down with their teachers to have very real conversations about the materials. Revere's teachers were very honest and their insight is a valuable tool to our work.
What is the universal, most important part of any curriculum resource? It is the classroom teachers, reading specialist, intervention teachers, aids, parent volunteers...People make education work. #DidYouKnowFridays

IMS teachers continue to meet and use student assessment data to drive instructional change. Data teams from IPS and IMS unpacked our fall benchmarking results and talk about supporting student master. Teachers continue to refresh their understanding of the tools we have to support struggling learners and push our advanced students.
iReady benchmark assessments help identify specific Learning Standards where students are "below grade level", "early grade level, "on grade level", and above grade level. This information helps teachers organize small group learning, whole group instruction, and when they might need to return to a lesson that students did not master.

IPS fourth-grade students created their first object for 3D print, a keychain. They followed an instructable which required them to use precise measurements. Part of the requirement was to integrate text and place a hole in their design. Great job, students!
