Lunch & Learn!
Every Wednesday between 4/26-5/24, there will be a career speaker in the media center during lunch periods.
We will have a variety of career fields represented including medicine, engineering, and even a United States Secret Service Agent! See the attached flyer for this year's lineup.
Romitos pizza, chips, cookie and water will be provided for lunch - the cost is $2 for each event you attend.

Each event will have a maximum of 40 students.
After you pick your events, turn in your Lunch & Learn money to Mrs. Janosek (or you can turn it in to the main office) to secure your spot.

IMS Builders Club hosted a "Paws for a Cause," fundraiser for the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter. The club made homemade dog treats to sell at lunch, along with Scooby snacks, stickers and an opportunity to give their pet a special shout out on the morning announcements. The club raised $125 and was proud to have Deputy Brown from the shelter in WIMS studios to accept the funds, talk about the shelter, and thank the students. Ellie, who is currently up for adoption, also joined and was a hit! Thanks to all who contributed to Paws for a Cause



WIMS/Broadcast Media Class for the 2023-2024 School Year
Any current 7th grader interested in applying for the WIMS/Broadcast Media Class for next school year, please join the WIMS/Broadcast Media Application Google Classroom using code cjzfbqg. Once in the classroom, please fill out the WIMS/Broadcast Media Interest Form. Students who complete the Interest Form by Thursday, April 27, 2023 will move on to the next step in the application process. The IHS Color Guard began preparations for their Clinics and Auditions at the Middle School last week! Students got a chance to watch a few of our upcoming seniors demonstrate a routine, talk about what Color Guard is, and try to spin themselves.
We are super excited for Clinics to start and welcome our new members to the IHS Marching Band! #iPride






2023-2024 Agenda Cover Contest!
Open to all students in grades 5-8.
All entries are due by April 18, 2023, to Miss Hannah.
The cover must include IMS or Independence Middle School and the year 2023-24 as well as your creative design.
The artwork must be 2D and 8” x 11”. Artwork submitted can be a drawing, a painting, photography, animation, etc., anything creative you can think of that is 2 Dimensional. All artwork must be shared with Miss Hannah no later than April 18.

SRO Keegan created a work out program for students and staff at the middle school. These 30-45 minute workouts bring everyone together and promote healthy living. Our SROs care about the safety of our students and look for new ways to make an impact within the schools. #ipride

Congratulations Mrs. Yaro-Linderman for being selected as one of 20 Ohio Education Champions and recognized this school year by the Ohio Education Association! Anyone that has been fortunate enough to work with Mrs. Yaro-Linderman these past 49 years knows just how special of a person she is. Tonight's opening night! IHS PRESENTS SHREK THE MUSICAL!
More than 50 IHS students are involved in the cast, orchestra and various crews, including 5 cast members from IMS!

7th Grade Families!
IMS sent home information about the 8th grade DC Trip for October 2023. The DC Trip will take place October 10-12, 2023. Please be on the lookout for packets to be coming home with your child in the next few weeks. On the day packets are passed out, an email with a pdf of the packet will also be sent out to parents and students.
**Also, new this year to the IMS DC Trip is the ability to pay through the EZ Pay app.

Happy PI Day!

IMS 6th graders wrapped up their unit on Ancient Egypt last week by sharing projects, learning from guest speakers and enjoying takeout from King Tut Street Food! Huge thanks to both Mrs. Rodriguez and Hadia, the owner of King Tut’s, for sharing pictures and stories about life in Egypt. Kudos to all the students on researching and creating such masterpieces of culture.
