Our goal at Independence Middle School is to engage our students in opportunities that further cultivate their interests so they can pursue these areas to best prepare them for their futures. I.M.S. is home to a comprehensive educational environment, blending rigor with excitement, so that students can grow as learners and members of the community. Ms. Bloam's Gamers Squad had their first after-school meeting today in the Blue Room 🎮🏓🃏🧩 These kids had a blast!!

Photos/Videos Needed for Newscast! Do you have pictures/videos of your children participating in school events like sports, clubs, or activities? If so, the WIMS crew would love for you to share them with us! The WIMS crew produces our morning announcements and newscasts. The first trimester newscast may feature the following segments: 8th Grade DC Trip, WIMS, Golf Club, Builder’s Club, Junior Biology, Football, Cheer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Shoe Drive, Fall Fest, Halloween at school, Spirit Week, WEB, Yearbook Club, Student Council, Donuts, Popcorn, Canned Food Drives, Fundraisers, Gamer's Squad, the IMS School Play, and possibly more. No video is too short or too long! Students can upload videos to the WIMS Google Classroom. The code to join the classroom is evfppvs. Parents can either have their children upload videos/pictures to the WIMS Google Classroom or they can be emailed to rpietrzak@independence.k12.oh.us We will be accepting videos/pictures all year long for even more sports and activities. It's National Custodians Appreciation Day!! Today and every day, thank you to Scott Stasek, Elijah Spellman, and the rest of our incredible custodial staff at IMS for keeping our spaces clean, safe & shining bright! 💙💛

Our 7th graders are making chocolate chip cookies in Mrs. Whitacre's Family & Consumer Sciences Lab today. Can't wait to test the product! 🥣🍪😋

Today our 8th graders participated in a day of alternate learning, taking advantage of some of our city's treasured resources! Students utilized their mapping skills learned in the classroom to complete an orienteering activity at the Land Lab 🧭 and made use of the Independence Public Library to research and find print sources for their upcoming Science Expo topics 📚 Kudos to our entire 8th grade team for their out of the classroom thinking, and especially Ms. Lewis and her student volunteers from IHS for making the day run so smoothly! 💙💛

So excited to host today's first "All-Pro Parent Breakfast" of the year! This breakfast was for the 5th grade families. Every grade level will have several opportunities throughout the year to enjoy breakfast, bonding time, and an inspirational message 💙💛 Special shout outs to Mr. Hegedish and Mr. DeAngelis for their presentation, and to IMS PTO parents Kelley Deir and Jaime Grassian for setting up this amazing spread 🎉
