Resumania Workshops Help Independence High School Seniors Prepare for Scholarships and Job Fair

Seniors at Independence High School are feeling more prepared for their next steps thanks to “Resumania,” a resume-writing workshop series organized by Career Counselor Rachel Barbiaux.

Resumania was offered in two sessions — one on February 26 and a second on March 4 — during the school’s iPride period. The workshops were designed to give senior students focused, hands-on guidance as they prepare to apply for local scholarships and attend the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s Job Fair.

Throughout the sessions, students learned what makes a competitive professional resume and gained insight into the do’s and don’ts of resume writing. Barbiaux reviewed what employers are looking for and helped students understand how to effectively highlight their skills, experiences, and accomplishments. Seniors were also introduced to a clear formula to help them confidently tell their experience story and stand out in a competitive field.

“Providing our seniors with practical tools like resume writing is an important part of preparing them for life after high school,” said Principal Mike Janatovich. “Resumania gives students the confidence to clearly communicate their skills and experiences as they pursue scholarships, employment, and future opportunities.”

Students appreciated the practical advice and timely support. “Thank you for all the information as it will greatly help in my resume creation process,” said Matthew Liepert.

By offering Resumania across two months, Independence High School ensured that more seniors had access to individualized guidance and the opportunity to strengthen their resumes before important deadlines. The workshops reflect the school’s continued commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation.
