Independence Primary School Fourth Grade Music Day Inspires Future Blue Devil Musicians

Excitement and curiosity filled the air as fourth-grade students recently took part in Music Day on May 11, a hands-on introduction to the opportunities waiting for them in middle school band and choir.

Students were transported to Independence Middle School, where they explored the world of music through instrument trials, group activities, and interactive demonstrations. From trying their first notes on band instruments to experiencing the energy of singing together, the day offered a meaningful glimpse into what music education looks like at the next level.

Middle school music staff and student leaders helped guide the experience, answering questions and encouraging fourth graders to step outside their comfort zones. For many students, it was their first time playing an instrument or performing in a group setting, making the experience both memorable and inspiring.

“Music Day is designed to build excitement and confidence as students prepare for the transition to middle school,” said Principal Haley Mueller, Independence Middle School.  “It highlights not only the skills they will develop, but also the sense of belonging and teamwork that comes with being part of a music program.”
