Independence Middle School (IMS) hosted its first Grade Gatherings on Friday, October 3, celebrating student achievement and strengthening the school community.

Each grade-level team created its own ceremony and team-building activities, bringing the concept of “teaming” to life in meaningful and engaging ways. Students were recognized for their academic success, leadership, character, and positive behavior—embodying the Blue Devil values that define the school’s culture.

The event supported the district’s Strategic Vision, especially the priorities of Empowering Whole Child Development and Creating an Inclusive and Welcoming Environment. By celebrating students’ personal growth, relationships, and sense of belonging, the Grade Gatherings reinforced IMS’s commitment to developing confident, connected learners.

The collaborative planning process also reflected the district’s goal of Aligning Resources and Knowledge for Collaborative Growth, as teachers worked together to design experiences that united students and staff. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the day highlighted the power of meaningful celebration, teamwork, and shared purpose at Independence Middle School.
