Makena Rini is a junior at Independence High School and is enrolled in CVCC’s Sports Medicine Exercise Science (SMES) program instructed by Mr. Fahey. Having an interest in the athletic training field, Makena wanted to get a head start and learn as much about the subject matter as she could, which is why she joined the SMES program. Makena has enjoyed meeting new people at CVCC and the hands-on element of the program. Anatomy has been a challenging component; however, Makena understands its importance to the overall curriculum and is up for the challenge. Makena is heavily involved in sports, as she plays varsity soccer and basketball at Independence High School.
In her free time, she enjoys being with her friends. Makena plans on going to college after high school and studying athletic training or possibly physical therapy. Her goal is to be able to help others through the athletic training or physical therapy fields.
