Independence Local Schools Introduces Career Immersion Projects

This year, Independence Local Schools has introduced "Career Immersion Projects" to our students.  Amanda Jaronowski, District Career Development Specialist, has designed and implemented this program in our fourth grade. After taking a survey about interests and skills, students are grouped into immersion groups, where they do a "deep dive" into a specific career field.

The first group explored all aspects of Media Arts & Journalism.  They were put in charge of creating and producing a newscast covering the Independence Primary School Grandparents Day.  Students were in charge of all aspects of audio/visual production, filming, on-site reporting and interviewing, and much more. To help in post-production, we also relied on the expertise of Kerry Morosko, IPS Media instructor.

Immersion Projects are a partnership between Independence Local Schools and the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, and are truly a team effort.
