Independence Primary School celebrated kindness, friendship and school pride during I-Pride Kindness Week, October 19-23. Throughout the week, students and staff participated in themed dress-up days designed to encourage positivity, strengthen friendships and remind everyone of the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.
The week began with "Fall Into Kindness Day" on Monday, when students wore their favorite fall and pumpkin-themed clothing to celebrate the idea of spreading kindness everywhere they go.
On Tuesday, students participated in "Team Up Against Bullying Day" by wearing their favorite sports gear to reinforce the message that everyone is on the same team when it comes to preventing bullying and supporting one another.
Wednesday's "Flannel and Friends Day" encouraged students to wear their favorite flannel clothing while celebrating friendship and the importance of being a good friend.
On Thursday, students dressed their best for "Dress to Impress Day," a reminder to look their best, feel their best and let their kindness shine.
The week concluded on Friday with "We Belong Friday," when students and staff wore blue, yellow and Independence spirit wear to celebrate their shared pride in being part of the IPS family.
“I-Pride Kindness Week provided opportunities for students to celebrate what makes Independence Primary School a welcoming and caring place to learn,” said Principal Jodie Hughes. “Through simple acts of kindness, friendship and school spirit, students were reminded that everyone has an important role in creating a school community where all feel valued, included and supported.”
