Independence Local Schools is inviting families and community members to spend an afternoon outdoors during the upcoming Land Lab Open House.
The open house will be held Sunday, October 18, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Independence Outdoor Education Center & Land Lab, 7733 Stone Road. Visitors will have an opportunity to explore the nature classroom and hike the trails throughout the property.
The Land Lab provides a unique outdoor learning environment where students can connect classroom lessons with hands-on experiences in nature. The property includes wooded trails and outdoor gathering pavilion and instructional areas, while the nature classroom inside the Independence Board of Education building features educational displays and resources related to the natural world.
During the open house, community members can see firsthand the spaces Independence students use for environmental and outdoor education.
Whether visitors are familiar with the Land Lab or have never had the opportunity to explore it, the open house provides a chance to experience this special Independence Local Schools learning resource.
Community members are encouraged to stop by anytime between noon and 3 p.m., visit the nature classroom and enjoy a hike along the trails.
