As the 2025-26 school year came to a close, Independence Local Schools gathered for its annual End-of-Year Staff Meeting on Wednesday, June 3, to celebrate the dedication, service, and contributions of employees across the district.
During the event, staff members were recognized for milestone years of service, representing decades of commitment to the students, families, and community of Independence.
Honored for 10 years of service were Sue Gillen and Lauren Salcer.

Recognized for 15 years of service were Mike Gruber and Dave Mantz.
Celebrating 20 years of service were Connie Aquilano, Diane Brown, Michelle Koussa and Kelsey Whitacre.
Employees recognized for 25 years of service included Ken DeAngelis, Dawn Frate, Deborah Klag and Susan Ribovich.

Celebrating 30 years of service were Mark Corpuz and Lisa Ferguson.
Laura Sauer and Dana Yaro-Linderman were recognized for an incredible 35 years of dedicated service to Independence Local Schools.
The district also celebrated the retirements of Donna McFarland, Laura Sauer, Laurie Soldat, Nancy Wygonski, Dana Yaro-Linderman, Candi Burmeister, and Diane Brown. Together, these retirees have made a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and families throughout their careers.
