As the 2025-26 school year came to a close, Independence Local Schools gathered for its annual End-of-Year Staff Meeting on Wednesday, June 3, to celebrate the dedication, service, and contributions of employees across the district.

During the event, staff members were recognized for milestone years of service, representing decades of commitment to the students, families, and community of Independence.

Honored for 10 years of service were Sue Gillen and Lauren Salcer.

The district also celebrated the retirements of Donna McFarland, Laura Sauer, Laurie Soldat, Nancy Wygonski, Dana Yaro-Linderman, Candi Burmeister, and Diane Brown. Together, these retirees have made a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and families throughout their careers.
