Community Expo

The City of Independence Economic Development Department and Independence Local Schools welcomed residents to the 2nd Annual Community Expo on Saturday, February 28, at Independence Middle School.

The event brought together local businesses, city departments, community organizations, students, and families with the shared goal of strengthening connections across the community. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the products, services, and resources available within Independence while engaging directly with local business owners and service providers.

Student involvement was a central part of the morning’s activities. In the auditorium, Independence High School students presented a cheer performance followed by selections from the IHS Choir and Band. In the gymnasium, members of the high school football and basketball teams led youth skills sessions, and the IPS Drone Club conducted a live demonstration and hosted an informational session for families interested in participating.

Independence Middle School students also contributed through the IMS Art Club’s drop-in sessions, offering hands-on art projects for community members of all ages.

The Community Expo continues to serve as a collaborative effort between the City and Independence Local Schools to promote economic development, highlight student achievement, and provide residents with direct access to local resources.

Thank you to the businesses, staff members, volunteers, students, and residents who participated and helped make the event a success.
