David Eichler, a graduate of Independence High School and Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s Computer Networking Academy, exemplifies how early career exploration can lead to long-term success. While at Independence High School, David was active both academically and extracurricularly, participating in baseball, golf, student clubs, and earning membership in the National Technical Honor Society at CVCC—demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and a strong commitment to excellence.

During his time at CVCC, David gained hands-on experience in computers and information technology, building a solid technical foundation that set him apart early. He earned multiple industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA A+, and continues to pursue additional credentials, reflecting his strong work ethic and passion for continuous learning.

David’s dedication led to a work-based learning opportunity at CVCC, where he was hired as a student IT employee and served in that role for more than a year. Following graduation, he was promoted to Computer Technician, a position he continues to hold part-time while supporting CVCC’s technology infrastructure.

Most recently, David graduated from Cleveland State University with a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and is preparing to begin a master’s degree in Information Technology Management at Western Governors University. Inspired by his mentor, CVCC Technology Director Kyle Livengood, David’s long-term goal is to become a Technology Director himself.

From career-technical education in high school to college graduation and career advancement, David’s journey highlights the lasting impact of CVCC and Independence Local Schools in helping students build confident, forward-thinking futures in technology and beyond.

Special thanks to Cuyahoga Valley Career Center for spotlighting David with a story this month!
