Dear Independence Parents & Guardians,
The Transportation Department is in the planning phase of creating new bus routes for the 2025-26 school year. Due to the continued bus driver shortage, we need to condense and/or eliminate some of our current routes for this coming school year. If your child attends an out of district K - 8 school, they will be picked up in the morning with our middle school students and will get on another bus at the middle school that will transport them to their designated schools. Keep in mind that there will not be any high school busing this coming school year. Having stated that, if you know anyone who may be interested in driving, please have them contact the transportation department as soon as possible.
We are asking parents of bus riders to complete a (transportation request form) for the 2025-26 school year by July 4. COMPLETE THIS FORM ONLY if your student(s) HAS AN ABSOLUTE NEED for busing for the coming year. Please do not complete this form in the event your child MAY need transportation. Any student that is signed up for the bus but does not ride in the first few weeks will be removed from the bus roster. If you do not require transportation at this time, but may in the future, it will be available. Again, we are trying to obtain the most accurate numbers.
