Independence High School is proud to announce that three of its students have received nominations in the 2025 Playhouse Square Dazzle Awards Presented by Pat and John Chapman and supported by PNC, Northeast Ohio’s premier high school musical theater recognition program.
Brooke Coldsnow has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music, placing her among the region’s top high school performers.
Behind the scenes, Carmen Chen has been selected as a Technical Apprentice, one of just a few students chosen to gain hands-on experience in production design and execution with professional mentors. Additionally, Robert Kalman has been working in the Student Reporter program all season, offering him a unique opportunity to document and share the Dazzle Awards experience from a student’s perspective and learn from industry professionals.
These nominations highlight the depth of talent and dedication among Independence High School’s performing arts students, both onstage and off. The school’s theater program continues to thrive, nurturing well-rounded, creative individuals prepared to contribute to all facets of the performing arts.
The winners will be announced at the 2025 Dazzle Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 17 at the KeyBank State Theatre in downtown Cleveland, where students from 38 high schools will come together for a red carpet event and an evening of Broadway-caliber performances. Jack Ottaviano and Avery Vilcheck are Independence High School’s cast representatives who will perform in the opening and closing numbers of the Ceremony.
