Academic Challenge
The Academic Challenge Club is designed to test IHS student knowledge against the knowledge of fellow students. We compete both individually and as a team. We travel to other local schools and compete in competitions against students from area schools.

Biology Society
The Independence Biology Society is a unique community of organisms that share similar interests in the natural environment and have the desire to experience and learn about all it’s wonders. Activities include moderate to strenuous hikes and outdoor classroom learning opportunities.

Drama Club
Musicals/Revues - These on stage/off stage opportunities are open to anyone at IHS. Membership to these productions are only available through audition. Students are required to attend all rehearsals/performances for which they are responsible.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
FCA is a student lead organization which allows students of Christian faith to gather and discuss issues from a Biblical perspective. Activities include games, devotionals, student sharing, prayer, and snacks! You do not have to be an athlete to attend.

Key Club
The Key Club is a service oriented group. We are affiliated with the Independence Kiwanis Club. Our goal is to help improve the lives of others through service projects. Volunteer service hours are frequently available to students who work on our projects. Our projects help others and are very rewarding to all who participate in these worthwhile events.

When: To be an official member by October 1, but any student can participate in most of our projects.

Morning Announcements (IHS TV)
IHS TV broadcasts live every morning to keep students and staff updated on club activities, sports and community service information. The announcements are produced and run by students.

Prom Committee
Prom Committee does all that is necessary in putting on the Junior/Senior Prom. This includes fund-raising, advertising, planning and selecting the Prom location. Students work on sub-committees, offering their suggestions and expertise in making Prom a safe and enjoyable time for all who attend.

Student Council
Student Council helps develop character and other positive personal qualities among young people. We promote democracy, develop good citizenship, positive attitudes towards law, order, authority and leadership. We contribute to the total educational growth of students, promote good human relations in the school community, general welfare of the school, cultural development, and the best possible understanding between peers, students and the faculty/administration as well as the community.

Vocal Ensemble
Vocal Ensemble is an auditioned group that performs a variety of SATB music for the community, participates in state adjudicated events, puts on bi-annual shows like the Madrigal Dinner and Spring Revue, and travels to Disney to perform every 2 years
Who: Young men and women who enjoy singing in grades 9-12 are invited to audition.
When: Auditions are held in late January/early February annually. Participation in the ensemble is a full year commitment.
