IHS Students Complete Dale Carnegie Course
Congratulations to the 26 students from Independence High School who graduated on November 23 from The Dale Carnegie Course. The course was held on Monday evenings for eight weeks this fall. This is the seventh year for the program and it has had 170 participants.
Every week, students worked on various exercises and speaking opportunities designed to help them gain confidence and develop better communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. The classes revolve around five core objectives: increasing self-confidence, improvement of people skills, communication skills and leadership skills, and controlling stress and worry.
Participating students included Joshua Belitz, Ryan Bernstein, Connor Blum, Jason Edwards, John Eisenmann, Patrick Firrell, Josette George, Julia Habeeb, Allison Ksiazka, Nicholas Kucera, Adam Miklovic, Joseph Mousty, Jamie Musni, Katrina Oschmann, Alyssa Pallini, Morgan Pascarella, Seth Patterson, Aaron Ramm, Thomas Rega, Matthew Richards, Grace Smotek, Kendall Travarca, Mark Tripodi, Reese Vilcheck, Brian Vollman and Steven Wong.
Coaching Assistant was Jim Eller, Youth for Christ. The instructor was Jeanne Wiedt from Dale Carnegie of NE Ohio.
The course is co-sponsored by Independence Local Schools and 25 & Alive via the City of Independence.
