Independence Local Schools has officially opened kindergarten registration for the 2026–27 school year, welcoming the future Class of 2039.
Families with children who will be five years old on or before August 26, 2026, are encouraged to begin the enrollment process for kindergarten at Independence Primary School.
The registration process begins online through the district website at www.independence.k12.oh.us. Parents and guardians should click “Student Registration” and then select “Kindergarten Registration” to complete the required forms through FinalForms. All online forms must be submitted before scheduling an in person appointment.
After completing the online registration, families can schedule a parent appointment to bring in required documents and finalize enrollment. Appointment dates are scheduled for March 26 and March 30. Students do not need to attend these appointments, as office staff will review and copy documents from parents or guardians.
Parents are asked to gather several documents ahead of their appointment, including a parent or guardian photo ID, the child’s original birth certificate or passport, health and immunization records, and proof of residency. Being prepared with the required paperwork will help ensure a quick and smooth registration appointment.
Incoming kindergarten students will also participate in kindergarten screening at Independence Primary School on June 1 or June 2, which helps staff prepare for the upcoming school year and supports a successful transition into the classroom.
