Professional Development

Professional Development is an evolving practice.  Currently, ILS uses learning cohorts, subject/grade level meetings, and Waiver Days to support professional learning.   Our current Professional Development focus aligns to our District Needs Assessment concerning our ability to increase STEM/PBL opportunities, empower student voice, and increase student mastery of learning standards.

Our district is currently working with the Schlechty Center to understand Student Engagement and how we can:
1. Increase Student Engagement.
2. Create a Common Language to understand pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning.
3. Empower student voice in the educational experience.

Our buildings are also focused on understanding our grading practice, assessment literacy, and how we communicate student achievement.
