Recess/Lunch Aide

Job Description:

This position provides assistance and supervision for children during lunch and recess, and in the classroom setting to ensure a positive and safe environment.

Bus Aide

Initial Assignment:                          Transportation

                                    Anticipated Hours: Shift:                10 hours per week (Midday Route

                      Shift:                                                  Days – Monday thru Friday

                     Hourly Rate:                                     Per Negotiated Agreement

 

Description: Help children safely board the bus. Help special needs children into their seats. Make sure wheelchairs, seat belts, car seats, and booster seats are installed correctly. Cope with behaviorally impaired children.

 

Essential Functions:

Manage students and maintain discipline on bus

Observe mandatory safety regulations for school buses

Assist with safely loading and unloading all students

Help maintain pupil control and report any violations to the proper authorities as prescribed

Notify the supervisor in case of illness so as to permit time to secure a substitute driver

Maintain respect at all times for confidential information

Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents

Immediately report all accidents in school vehicles Participate in school bus safety programs for students

Train students and supervise emergency evacuations as directed by supervisor

Promote good public relations

Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens

Qualifications:

Ability to work effectively with others

Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing

Effective active listening skill

Organizational and problem solving skills

Knowledge of basic first aid

Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels

Broom, flashlight, window cleaning equipment

Cleaner

2022-2023 School Year

Position:  Cleaner – 3.75 Hours/Day (M-F)

District:  Independence Local Schools

Salary:  $13.79/hr. - $19.09/hr. – depending on experience

Qualifications:

• Flexibility in assignments
• Training in the proper care and storage of chemicals
• Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures
• Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels
• Must be knowledgeable in the correct way to repair a variety of materials, i.e., floor tile replacement, repairs to wood, plastic, fiberglass, etc.

Anticipated Hours:          2 hours per day (approximately 2:00pm-4:00pm
Shift:                                   Afternoons – Monday thru Friday
Hourly Rate:                      $19.19/hr - $26.15/hr depending on experience

*CDL Certified Preferred but we are also willing to train candidates.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be Insurable
  • State of Ohio Commercial Drivers License with School Bus Endorsement
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Superintendent and/or Board may find appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Effective, active listening skills
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • State Department of Education Basic School Bus Driver Education Program
  • Basic first-aid procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant Ohio laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of traffic laws
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels
  • Ability to handle emergency situations
  • Ability to interpret gauges, dipsticks for oil and transmission
