Blue Devils Girls' Golf Team Finish Second at State

In only it's third year of existence the girl’s golf team has made history finishing as the OHSAA 2016 State Runner-Up for Division II.  On the first day of play the girls set a school record for 18 holes shooting a 328 which was also the third lowest Division II score in state history.   They followed up with a team score of 665 for the 2 day tournament, the fourth best DII score at the state tournament.  Sophia Trombetta earned 1st team All-Ohio Honors finishing in third place with a two day score of 142.  Lyndsay Blum played solid both days with a score of 168 and placed her in the top 20 for individual
finishers.  Maddie Harper had a career low round on day two shooting an 85.  Madeline Mindzora had her career best round on day 1 shooting an 87.  Christine Tommer also shined at the state tournament by
breaking 100 for the first time in her career.

This is highest achievement that a girl's program has earned for Independence High School.  IHS has had 3 boys programs earn State Championships (Track and Field, 1948 and Cross Country 2009 & 2010) and 2 earn State Runner-up honors (Baseball 1933 and Cross Country 2011).

Congratulations to the Lady Blue Devil Golfers!!!!
