"Living Loud: Can you hear it?"
On Thursday, September 4, Independence Local Schools presented Justin Bachman "Living Loud: Can You Hear It?" presentation. More than 600 students from Independence High School, Independence Middle School, and St. Michael School heard Justin's empowering message.
Bachman, a 17-year old suicide survivor with Tourette's Syndrome, ADHS, and dysgraphia, is a senior at Solon High School. He has presented to more than 41,000 people across the country about his struggles of being accepted. His presentation was a humorous and moving account of the importance of self worth, the impact of being different and how to make it comfortable and easy to live loud. "His message was inspiring and reached teens in a way only a teen can...but he certainly had an impact on adults as well," said Mary Dolejs, guidance counselor, Independence High School.
Sponsors of the event include the City of Independence's 25 & Alive, Independence High School's STAND (Students Taking a New Direction) club, the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland, IHS Key Club, Independence Educational Foundation, IHS, IMS, and St. Michael School PTU.
