Independence Middle Schools Sixth Graders Make a Difference in Community
students clean up yards
Over the past six years, Independence Middle School's iMovement (Pay it Forward) Day has raised more than $10,000, handed out more than 500 gift cards, cleaned up 50 homes, passed out thousands of bottles of water, helped serve lunch to more than 500 seniors, passed out dozens of trays of bakery to our city services, and so much more. Most importantly, our students and staff have created a wonderful place for people to live and work and a place that people are proud to call home...a place where people know their neighbors will take care of them. #IPRIDE at its finest.

On Friday, May 26, our sixth grade students...

Placed 94 bags of mulch, donated by Kurtz Bros. Thank you Tim and Michael Lee (7th grader) who delivered all the mulch to the homes.

Cleaned up 8 homes

Helped Cornerstone of Hope prepare for their summer camp

Cleaned up trails and removed invasive species at the Land Lab

Baked 12 dozen cookies for St. Malachi

Took 15 trays of goodies to Independence Police, Fire, City Hall, Library, Civic Center

Served more than 100 senior citizens. Held a raffle for 15 gifts and also colored more than 100 placements

Delivered donuts to St. Michael's, Independence High School, Primary School, Middle School, and Board of Education on behalf of the 6th grade.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible. It's a great day in the City of Independence!
