Volunteers Needed March 19th! The middle school is looking for 8-10 students to run the child care room in the middle school library while their parents are in a meeting in the auditorium. The meeting lasts from 6-8 pm. Please see Mrs. Whitacre if you are interested!!!
Yes its that time of year again! We are starting to prepare for the Renee Roche Run.
On December 13th and14th, Independence is host to the 7th annual North Coast Classic which will include 24 teams from around Ohio and Pennsylvania in the Indy Field House. Student and adult volunteers are needed on the scoring and clock tables, concession, and security. Friday hours are from 2:30pm till 10:00pm and Saturday 8:00am till 2:30pm. This is an opportunity to get service hours in before Christmas break. There will be food and beverage for all volunteers. You may sign up with Mrs. Whitacre or in the main office. Thank You!
Cornerstone of Hope is looking for students who enjoy babysitting to volunteer babysitting for families who attend their support groups. They ask that all students attend a Babysitter Education Class before volunteering as a sitter. Their next class will be offered on Thursday, December 12 from 5 – 6 PM. Support groups start back up mid-January and they need babysitters on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. The city is looking for volunteers for one hour shifts. Volunteers will be paired with a senior, to ring the Salvation Army bell at the Tree Lighting and at the Winter Fest.
Help is still needed: Sat. Dec. 7th for the Tree Lighting from 5:15 – 6:15 and Sun. Dec. 8th for Winter Fest from 1:30 – 2:30 and 2:30 – 3:30

The Autism Society of Greater Cleveland will be hosting a Holiday Party on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at The City of Independence Old Recreation Building, 6200 Elmwood Drive, Independence, OH 44131. We REALLY need volunteers to help facilitate this wonderful holiday gathering. Set up starts at 10:00 am. Lunch will begin at Noon till 1:00 pm. The party goes till 3:00 pm and clean up is from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. This is an extremely rewarding opportunity for all who participate. The Cuyahoga Valley train is looking for student volunteers for their polar express which runs Nov. 15th thru Dec.20. You can pick either helping on the train runs or at their “North Pole” which is in Pennisula. You can work one date or several. ICAN! is a City of Independence Recreational Program. ICAN! stands for Independence Community Adapted Network. It is a network of City of Independence employees, businesses, community members, parents, family members, caregivers and district employees working together to support the development of recreational, fitness and social programming for those with a variety of developmental, cognitive and physical disabilities ages 10 and above. The main focus and mission of the program is to provide social and learning opportunities.
