The Autism Society of Greater Cleveland will be hosting a Holiday Party on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at The City of Independence Old Recreation Building, 6200 Elmwood Drive, Independence, OH 44131. We REALLY need volunteers to help facilitate this wonderful holiday gathering. Set up starts at 10:00 am. Lunch will begin at Noon till 1:00 pm. The party goes till 3:00 pm and clean up is from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. This is an extremely rewarding opportunity for all who participate. For many families who attend this gathering, these are the only gifts their children receive during the entire Holiday Season. If interested, contact Eileen Hawkins at (216) 524-0424.
The Cuyahoga Valley train is looking for student volunteers for their polar express which runs Nov. 15th thru Dec.20. You can pick either helping on the train runs or at their “North Pole” which is in Pennisula. You can work one date or several. ICAN! is a City of Independence Recreational Program. ICAN! stands for Independence Community Adapted Network. It is a network of City of Independence employees, businesses, community members, parents, family members, caregivers and district employees working together to support the development of recreational, fitness and social programming for those with a variety of developmental, cognitive and physical disabilities ages 10 and above. The main focus and mission of the program is to provide social and learning opportunities.

Student volunteers are needed for Holiday Fest on December 8th, 2013 from 10am-6pm. They need help with set-up, clean-up, crafts, and for people to wear costumes. The deadline for registration is December 2nd. Contact the city Community Service Department at 524-7373.
Student volunteers are needed for the Independence Fall Fest on September 29th from 10am-6pm. They will need help with set-up, clean-up, hayride, miniature golf, games, and the fun house. The Independence Library Book Sale is looking for student volunteers between October 5th and October 13th. They will need help moving boxes for set-up on the 5th between 10-2 and will provide pizza for lunch. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these days, sign up at the Adult Reference Desk at the Independence Library.
St. Michael is looking for volunteers to work the Holy Name Food Bank in Cleveland. They are in need of volunteers on the 3rd Saturday of each month for shifts from 8:45-10:30 and 10:30-12:30. Volunteers can work routinely or go just once! If interested, contact Mr. Wetzel at (216) 642-3065
