Student volunteers are needed for the Independence Fall Fest on September 29th from 10am-6pm. They will need help with set-up, clean-up, hayride, miniature golf, games, and the fun house. The deadline to register is September 23rd. Contact the city Community Service Department at 524-7373 to sign up.
The Independence Library Book Sale is looking for student volunteers between October 5th and October 13th. They will need help moving boxes for set-up on the 5th between 10-2 and will provide pizza for lunch. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these days, sign up at the Adult Reference Desk at the Independence Library.
St. Michael is looking for volunteers to work the Holy Name Food Bank in Cleveland. They are in need of volunteers on the 3rd Saturday of each month for shifts from 8:45-10:30 and 10:30-12:30. Volunteers can work routinely or go just once! If interested, contact Mr. Wetzel at (216) 642-3065

The All Kids Play Playground Project is looking for student volunteers to carry a banner for the July 4th Parade and to help with fundraisers in the summer and fall. If you are interested, contact Nancy Micara at (216) 402-8200.
Are you interested in gardening and growing your own food and earning service hours? The Independence Community Garden has donated a plot to Independence High School. If you are interested in helping to maintain the garden over the summer (and eat the food!), please see Mrs. Whitacre ASAP! Mrs. Whitacre will help you get it planted and help over the summer, if you need it! Gather your friends and garden together!!!!
It’s never too soon to get community service hours! The Friends of Independence Library needs students to bring boxes of books down from the library attic on Tuesday, July 2nd from 12-3pm. This is a small sale. They would also appreciate help with setting up tables and unpacking boxes. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided to volunteers. Sign up at the adult reference desk at the library or see Megan at the library.

Do you know a teen interested in volunteering at South Pointe?
The Junior Volunteers join the collaborative efforts of all our volunteers and employees in welcoming, assisting and caring for patients. The theme of “Patients First” guides and directs the Junior Volunteers’ various activities.
Junior Volunteers serve in many ways:
- Greet and escort patients and families
- Activity Cart- Deliver magazines, words searches and playing cards to patients
- Volunteer with special projects
- Clerical and computer data entry
Teens interested in becoming Junior Volunteers must:
- Be 15-17 years of age
- Fill out and submit a Junior Volunteer application before May 31
- Include a recommendation from a high school teacher or guidance counselor
- Attend a mandatory orientation in June.
A commitment to a regular weekly schedule and a minimum of 50 hours are required during the summer months.
Student Volunteers are needed for the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland’s Social Skills Summer Camp. Session one is scheduled for July 8th-12th and session two is scheduled for July 15th-19th. The camp is held at the Independence Rec Center. If interested contact Eileen Hawkins at 216-556-4937.
