It’s hard to believe that Greg Dailey has only been with the Independence Wrestling Team for two years. In that short time he has made quite an impact and definitely left his mark. Greg is a returning state placer at heavyweight and has won almost 70 matches in the last year and a half, most of them in dominant fashion. He is a great teammate and is very coachable. His sense of humor and easygoing manner off the mat contrast his fire and competitiveness on the mat. Most people don’t think of heavyweights as athletes but Greg definitely breaks that stereotype. Greg has placed first or second in every tournament he has wrestled in and won every match in dual meets. His most recent accomplishment was beating previously unbeaten and Division 2 state runner-up Ian Jones, from Painesville Harvey, 4-2 in double overtime. This avenged a loss from last year and shows how much Greg has grown. With all his past accomplishments I’m sure he will tell you that there is one goal left unfulfilled. Being a State Champ. Greg is currently ranked as the second best heavyweight in Division 3. This is a lofty goal but if you have seen Greg Dailey over the last two years you know it’s something that’s within his grasp. He is working extremely hard to make it to the top step of the podium.
