Bowling Club
WHO:
Students in Grades 5 and 6.
 WHAT:
Bowling after school at Cloverleaf Lanes.
WHEN:
Five days TBD in February/March

HOW:
*Students ride school field trip buses to and from Cloverleaf Lane.
*Prepaid package cost to be determined (payment for the 5 weeks of bowling (2 games, shoes and ball rental).
*Unfortunately, no refunds for missed weeks of bowling.
*Students walk or are picked up at IMS parking lot upon return from bowling.

Builders Club
WHO:
Students in Grades 5 through 8
WHAT:
The Builders Club is a service organization sponsored bu Kiwanis Club and is the Middle School version of Key Club.
The Builders Club has eight elected officers and four additional positions elected-one from each grade level as a grade level representative.
*Our club motto is We Build.
*Activities from past years include:
-Organize and collect box tops
-Sponsor the recycling club
-Serve lunch to the needy at St. Herman's
-Assist the Kiwanis Club at their Annual Pancake Breakfast
-Thanksgiving "Can the Principal" food collection

WHO:
Students in Grades 5-8
WHAT:
Students who want to experience creative learning of nature's environment by taking care of the IMS outdoor classroom and courtyard surroundings.

Drama Club
WHO:
Students in Grades 6 through 8
WHAT:
IMS Drama Club is for student interested in acting, singing and dancing. We prepare one full-length musical per school year. Students may participate in the cast or stage crew. Every role is vital!
WHEN:
Performances have been in February for the past several years with rehearsals beginning at the end of October.

HOW:
Auditions are held in mid-late October in one afternoon. Students perform a song, o longer than one minute in length, and are given a reading from the script to prepare for the audition. All students must complete an audition to be in the cast. There are no cuts.

GCCTM Mathematics Tournament
WHO:
The sixteen top scorers from fifth and sixth grade on the Mathematics League Annual Contest are eligible.
WHAT:
The Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics 5-6 sponsor a tournament to give students an opportunity to gain recognition in mathematics and to encourage problem-solving skills and techniques.
WHEN:
Competition takes place on Saturday in May (TBA).

HOW:

No fee required.
WHO:

Golf Club
WHO:
Students in Grade 5 through 8
WHAT:
Golfers with experience on the golf course get together weekly for a 9-hole round of golf at Old Pine, Ridgewood, or Astrohurst.
IMS provides the bus to and from in addition to the tee times.
WHEN:
Golf begins in April (weather permitting).
HOW:

Intramurals
WHO:
Students in Grades 5 and 6
WHAT:
IMS currently offers the following intramural sports:
*football (Spring)
*volleyball (Spring)
*wrestling (after Winter Break)
WHEN:
Events will take place during lunch/recess or after school.
Participants will receive a schedule at the beginning of the sport that lists the specific time and location of each event.
HOW:
Students should listen to morning announcements for sign-up dates to sign up with the appropriate advisor: Mr. DeAngelis (wrestling) and Mr. Durny (football and volleyball)

Pep Club
WHO:
Students in Grades 6 through 8
WHAT:
The Pep Club of IMS serves as a group dedicated to promoting a sense of enthusiasm and spirit toward both athletic and academic events.
Pep Club members notify the student body of upcoming athletic and academic events/contests. Members support and recognize athletes and students who participate in academic events. The IMS Pep Club sponsors and participates in activities to raise money for charitable causes.
Students are expected to attend meetings regularly in order to write informational public address announcements, prepare athletic/academic acknowledgments, plan school-wide activities that promote a sense of spirit throughout the school. Eligible students work in teams as well as in the unified Pep Club body.
WHEN:
Pep Club formally meets between late September through early May. Meetings are held Thursday mornings once a week or every other week.

Power of the Pen
WHO:
Students in Grades 7 and 8 who enjoy writing.
WHAT:
A writing competition where students compete against one another on a series of writing prompts.
WHEN:
**Presently meeting on Wednesdays during lunch and recess.

State competition in May
HOW:

Show Choir
WHO:
Students in Grades 6 through 8
WHAT:
Show Choir is for students interested in singing and dancing to show tunes and popular music.
WHEN:
Rehearsals are mainly on Mondays from 2:45 - 4:30 PM. Practice is year round in order for students to be prepared for the winter and spring concerts. *There are added possibilities of performing for city functions during the year as well.
HOW:
The Show Choir is an elite ensemble chosen from the regular choirs. Auditions are held in the spring for the following school year. A typical audition consists of preparing a short song chosen by the director and as a group, learning and performing a short dance.

Ski Club
WHO:
Students in Grades 5 through 8
WHAT:
Students with varying abilities ski at Boston Mills.
WHEN:
Skiing/snow boarding takes place starting in January, weather permitting.
Students will depart IMS at 2:45 and return at 7:30 PM.
*Students will ski 5 times.
HOW:

Spelling Bee
WHO:
Students in Grades 7 and 8
WHAT:
The National Spelling Bee
WHEN:
Try-outs for the bee will occur in January. Only one participant from IMS will qualify.

Student Council
WHO:
Students in Grades 5 and 6
WHAT:
5th/6th Grade Student Council is a way to provide leadership to students in a variety of ways: fund raising, school spirit, community involvement, and class leadership with the mixer organization (5th/6th event). Students are expected to regularly attend meetings.
WHEN:
Meetings take place on Tuesdays during the lunch period
HOW:

WHO:
Students in Grades 7 and 8
WHAT:
Organizes and plans activities for 7th and 8th Grade as well as whole student body. Students are expected to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

WEB
WHO:
Students in 8th Grade who were recommended by teachers
WHAT:
WEB is a middle school transition program that welcomes 5th Graders to IMS and makes them feel comfortable throughout their first middle school year. WEB, and acronym for "Where Everybody Belongs," is built on the belief that students want to and can help other students succeed. WEB leaders this year will also lead Advisor/Advisee activities with 5th Graders.

WIMS Morning Announcements
WHO:
Students in Grade 8
WHAT:
Students are responsible for all aspects of the production of video announcements each morning.
WHEN:
Students must be able to arrive at school to Room 709 no later than 7 AM each school day.
HOW:
Students in Grade 7 will audition in the Spring of the year for the following school year with the advisor, Mr. Hribar.
