Good Morning IHS! Today is Friday, April 26, 2019

Attention all girls interested in playing volleyball at IHS next year
- There will be an informational meeting at IHS right after school
next Monday, April 29th at 2:45pm in the cafeteria. You will be
receiving information about conditioning, summer open gyms, summer
camps and other important dates.
Seniors: If you are interested in being a speaker at commencement
please pick up a Commencement Speaker Guideline form in the front
office. Speeches are due back to the office tomorrow, Friday, April 26
by 2:45 pm. Speaker Tryouts will be held next Wednesday, May 1 at
7:00 am in the Auditorium.
The following seniors need to turn in your quote for the yearbook:
Carson Bianxo, Jack Brocco, Ginger Crist, Austin Dean, Saikishore
Gourishanker, Michael Kucera, Michael Kundmueller, Tim Marcinko, Max
Meyer, Bailey Myers, Patrick Roote, Jonathon Rydzinski, Zach Terrano,
Christina Tommer, and Michael Valenti. We need one or two of these
categories filled out by tomorrow, April 30th. Please turn in to Mrs.
Lewis or Mrs. Panteck: Favorite Memory, Most Embarrassing Moment,
Underclassman Advice, Favorite Teacher
Mrs. Panteck and Mrs. Lewis are in need of Disney pictures for the
yearbook. Please email your pictures to them or share them through
google docs by tomorrow.
Attention Seniors: Voting for the 2019 Prom Court will be done in Mr
Corpuz's room, next Tuesday, April 30th, during the day in the am,
between classes, and pm. Once again, that’s next Tuesday, April 30th,
before school, between classes, and after school.
After-prom tickets are still available to all juniors and seniors.
Permission slips are available on the IHS website Prom 2019 tab. The
completed permission slip and $15 for each ticket can be placed in the
After-prom mailbox in the office. Contact Mrs. Artrip with any

Plans for the Summer? Visit the IHS Guidance website under Student
Opportunities to see all kinds of good college camps happening across
the country! Visit the Employment Opportunities page for a listing of
jobs! Get in the habit of visiting both of these guidance sites often,
as they are updated as colleges and employers reach out to IHS!
The 17th Annual Jog Into Spring Run/Walk will be held Sunday April
28th. All proceeds go to the Renee Fontana Roche Memorial Scholarship
for graduating seniors from Independence High School. If you are
interested in participating pick up a flyer in the main office for
additional information. The race is currently looking for student
volunteers. Students will need to report to the Kiwanis Pavilion this
Sunday, April 28th at 8:00AM. If you are interested in volunteering,

Hyland and the Space Communications and Navigation Program at NASA
Glenn Research Center have partnered to host Girls in Information and
Communication Technologies Day tomorrow, Saturday, April 27 at
Hyland's Westlake Campus. This program is a global initiative to
encourage girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the
ICT field. Attendees will learn the basics of programming by creating
a simple Python application, define and construct algorithms and
explore exhibits and hands on demonstrations through a scavenger hunt.
